Henceforth, a special central executive body will control Ukraine’s cooperation with Ukrainians-citizens of other countries, which will significally increase efficiency of the work. MP Oksana Bilozir, member of the CDU Board, informed about that in her comment to the adopted changes to the relative law.
“The changes adopted to the law provide Ukrainians-citizens of other countries who are staying in Ukraine legally with the same rights and freedoms Ukrainian citizens have, except the exceptions provided by the constitution of Ukraine, laws of Ukraine, or international agreements approved by the VR,” the MP told.
Specifically, she informed that a Ukrainian-citizen of other country has a right to work on the same basis provided for citizens of Ukraine. Also, quotas for higher education institutions are set for the Ukrainians-citizens of other countries within the state order.
Along with that, the article 10 of the law provides protection of rights of the Ukrainians-citizens of other countries as national minorities in other countries and providing their language and cultural needs as an integral part of Ukraine’s foreign policy activity. According to MP Oksana Bilozir, that is an important condition for improvement of the network of Ukrainian schools, libraries, and cultural centres.
At the same time, the MP drew attention to the fact that the law paid little attention to Ukrainian labor migrants. Thus, Oksana Bilozir considers it necessary for the VR to consider the draft law “On Support of Ukrainian Community Abroad” initiated by her and providing protection of interests of both Ukrainian diaspora and Ukrainian labor migrants.
