The VR special committees and factions are to support the draft law of the CDU Board members concerning providing religious organizations with a right to establish general educational institutions. That is stated in the resolution signed by participants of the panel discussion on the issue.
MP Volodymyr Marushchenko, member of the CDU Board, noted that he expected adoption of the draft law in the first reading: “We have organized the panel discussion and invited experts to consider the issue comprehensively. Representatives of Ministries of Education and Culture, of the President in the Verkhovna Rada, of scientific institutions, and religious organizations have participated in the discussion. They all have supported our initiative”.
He noted that providing providing religious organizations with a right to establish schools did not contradict the constitutional principle of separating the school from the Church. “We speak of the right to establish secular educational institutions, activity of which will be regulated by the law “On Education”. Many countries of the western democracy, including France, Germany, and the USA, have such practice. At the same time, believers would have an opportunity to provide their children with an education meeting their religious convictions,” the MP stressed.
