MP Volodymyr Marushchenko, member of the Christian Democratic Union Party's Board, has called to resume work of the Council for Ethnic Policy under the President of Ukraine. He stated that during the parliamentary hearing  “Ethno–National Policy: Achievements and Prospects”  initiated by MPs of the Right of Choice group - members of the Christian Democratic Union’s Board.

The MP stressed absence of efficient dialogue between the state and representatives of national communities. “That is indicated by abolition of the Council for Ethnic Policy under the President of Ukraine and the State Committee of Ukraine for Nationalities and Religions,” Marushchenko emphasized.

He drew attention to the necessity of resuming work of such an institute, “The state has to develop a concept of its ethnic policy aimed at democratic European values and able to react properly at changes in the ethno-political situation. That arouses necessity of establishing a stable and continual dialogue between the state and national communities.”

At the same time, Volodymyr Marushchenko turned attention to the fact that the parliamentary hearing concerning the ethnic policy had been held for the first time in Ukraine. “Such format is needed not only to discuss the problems present, but also to look together for ways of solving them,” the MP added.
